Sumba Nautil Resort is
located on the remote southwestern coast of the island. The
55 minutes direct flight from Bali to Waingapu is followed
by a 4 hour scenic trip from the airport to the resort. If
you take one of the four weekly flights from Denpasar to
Tambolaka, the scenic drive takes 2 hours.Situated on
sloping hills, our 7 secluded and luxurious bungalows offer
a haven in an idyllic setting of Western comfort and
stunning views.

Resort are built in accordance with traditional pratices
using local materials, traditional artifacts, with
air-conditioning andlarge windows. The bungalows, hand-built
by Indonesian craftsman, have a terrace offering spectacular
views on the endless Indian Ocean with its dramatic cliffs
and the sloping Sumbanese headlands.
The design of the bungalows is based on twin sharing, each
with a king-size bed or twin beds, air-conditioning, ceiling
fan, bathroom with hot water, mini-bar, electric kettle, and

Location
Newa Sumba Resort,
strategically located on the north coast of
Sumba Island, the resort is within minutes drive
from Tambolaka airport and the seaport of
Waikelo, making it easily accessible to and from
other tourist destinations in neighboring Bali,
Komodo, Flores and beyond. Sumba can be reached
in just one hour flying from Bali. And if you
are coming from Waingapu East Sumba, it will
take you around 4 to 5 hours drive to reach the
resort. Likewise, the traditional villages and
cultural centers that are found in many places
in Sumba are all within easy reach from the
resort.
The 100-hectare resort's
beachfront area of approximately 1 kilometer in
length and the forests along each side of the
Newa river, form part of the resort's extensive
nature preserve, an ideal sanctuary for
wildlife. Birdwatching activities is common and
many of the bird species are rare and found only
in this area.
At present, there are few facilities available
for tourists in Sumba, and Newa Sumba Resort is
one of the first to offer accomodation for
upmarket tourists. The resort will gradually
increase its facilities to meet the increasing
number of visitors who come to Sumba, either for
culturally oriented visits or for nature related
holidays. Horseback riding and hiking on native
trails are just some of many activities you can
enjoy at Newa Sumba Resort.

Sumbanese style are crafted from coconut-palm
timbers. The villas features separate living
area and private balconies with breathtaking
views of the white sandy beach and torquoise
green and blue waters. True to its commitment
for low impact quality tourism, the resort is

layout. The resort also offers the view of both
sunrise and sunset.
Most of our rooms have open air shower next to a
tropical fruit garden. We wanted you to still
enjoy the refreshing feeling of tropical
atmosphere after a whole day of swimming and
enjoying the sun on the beach.
Our spacious rooms are equipped with air
conditioning units and fitted with high quality
palm timber furnitures to guarantee your
sleeping comfort.

We, at Newa Sumba Resort organize culturally
related activities in the Resort as part of the
program to allow our guests interact with the
local culture and people. Such activities
include lesson in traditional dances in full
Sumbanese dress, basket making from seasoned
pandanus leaves, cloth weaving & coloring,
horseback riding the Sumbanese way, and
